Launch of Training Course for Field Researchers in the National Disability Survey Project

Under the patronage of Dr. Samir Bajaa’la, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and Chairman of the Board of the Fund for the Care and Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities, a training course for field researchers was inaugurated today in Sana’a. This course is part of the National Disability Survey Project, which targets Al-Mahwit Governorate in its first phase.

The course is a collaboration between the Central Statistics Organization and the Fund for the Care and Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities, with the participation of 14 trainees from both entities.

The event was attended by Mr. Faris Al-Jahmi, Deputy of the Central Statistics Organization; Mr. Yasser Sharaf Al-Din, Assistant Undersecretary for Care at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor; Dr. Ali Nasser Maghli, Executive Director of the Fund; and Mr. Mohammed Dahmash, Human Resources Manager of the Fund.

Highlights of the Event

Mr. Faris Al-Jahmi, in his opening remarks, emphasized the importance of the course in enhancing the technical capabilities of researchers. He highlighted their role in improving the quality of data on persons with disabilities.

Dr. Ali Nasser Maghli, Executive Director of the Fund, stated that the course aims to equip trainees with technical skills to conduct sample-based surveys. He noted that these surveys are vital tools for gathering information that shapes policies and decisions to benefit persons with disabilities.

Mr. Yasser Sharaf Al-Din, Assistant Undersecretary, stressed that the survey will provide precise and comprehensive data to support efforts to improve the lives and uphold the rights of persons with disabilities. He urged participants to work as a cohesive team to ensure the success of the first phase in Al-Mahwit Governorate.

Mr. Mohammed Dahmash, Human Resources Manager, explained that the course will span seven days. It will provide participants with essential knowledge and concepts related to conducting field surveys, supplemented with theoretical and practical exercises to evaluate their understanding of the training content.


This initiative reflects a concerted effort to advance the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities through accurate data collection and evidence-based policy-making.
