handicap Care and rehabilitation Fund - Sana'a- Yemen
Dr. Abdullah Benyan, President of the Union, welcomed the sheikhs, dignitaries, tribes of Yemen, social figures, activists, and influencers present at this significant tribal gathering, which reflects the interest of the Yemeni tribe in addressing issues and ensuring justice for the oppressed.
Benyan expressed gratitude on behalf of all people with disabilities for the efforts and concern of His Excellency the Leader, Mujahid Abdul-Malik Badr Al-Din Al-Houthi, the Chairman of the Political Council, Marshal Mahdi Al-Mashat, the presidential committee, and the sheikhs and social figures who attended the Union's headquarters to support Fatima.
He added that individuals with disabilities will continue to hold their heads high in the name of the modern Yemeni state. He stated that people with disabilities represent about 15% of the total population in Yemen, approximately four million five hundred thousand individuals, and that they must be taken care of, as they have sacrificed for the homeland.
Benyan thanked Al-Hudaydah TV for raising the issue, along with Al-Masirah TV and other channels, as well as social media platforms and activists who have been at the forefront of the matter.
He emphasized the importance of enacting laws that address the needs of people with disabilities and activating related laws. He noted that if the initial ruling had utilized legal assistance, with interpreters for sign language and psychological guides familiar with disability issues, this situation might have been avoided.
Benyan stressed that compensation should be provided to Fatima and that her dignity should be restored to prevent any future issues. He pointed out that the Union and associations for the disabled will not remain silent in the face of any attacks or exploitation of people with disabilities.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Ali Al-Dhubibi, several sheikhs and dignitaries, social figures, social media activists, representatives of disability associations, and various interested parties.
In light of the responsibility held by the National Union of Associations for the Disabled in Yemen, it was necessary to call for this meeting after all parties reached reconciliation, to advocate for Fatima Al-Zuwaiki and, through her, for all individuals with disabilities who face violations.
With the presence of sheikhs, dignitaries, mediators, a presidential committee, journalists, and leaders from the disabled community, a vital message was conveyed: that individuals with disabilities are a part of society, and everyone should stand against any violations they face. The laws and regulations that guarantee their rights must be applied in reality.
This is what the Union's President, Dr. Abdullah Benyan, called for in his speech before the attendees, adding that the Union and organizations representing individuals with disabilities will remain vigilant and will pursue any attack or violation against them. The state must provide all necessary attention to them as they represent more than 4.5 million individuals in the population.
Benyan urged associations concerned with the issues of people with disabilities and the families of those with disabilities not to remain silent about any violations and to report to the Union, which will handle these reports with utmost confidentiality to protect the privacy of those reporting.
He affirmed that the National Union has played a role in following up on Fatima Al-Zuwaiki's case for nearly a year and has acted responsibly with various entities, including the Ministry of Human Rights, resulting in
